Accel Cal Header

Calibrate and verify your accelerometers quickly. In your own lab.

Vibration Research's Accelerometer Calibration & Verification package(VR9106) offers an automatic and accurate calibration of IEPE and charge mode piezoelectric accelerometers or transducers. Our test package can also write to TEDS capable sensors. Requires 2-channel VR9500 controller, SineVIEW, vibration exciter and a reference sensor (also available as a complete package).

-Automatic Calibration

Automatically compare sensitivities of the reference and DUT transducers at the operating frequency range. New values saved at end of test.

-Custom reporting

Use the report template that comes included or customize your report using Microsoft® Word. VRC offers one of the most flexible custom reporting packages anywhere!

-Reference sensor

Optional reference back-to-back accelerometer available. Allows for DUT accelerometer to be stacked on top for tight coupling.

-Test profile included

Comes with pre-programmed test profile including calibration test report. You can create your own test profiles at any time.

-Writes to TEDS sensors

Upon test completion, new sensitivity values can write to TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) embedded within the sensor.

-Full package available

Also available as a complete package including shaker, 2-channel controller, reference sensor and software for a complete turn-key system.

Principle Operation

To calibrate a vibration accelerometer is to accurately determine its sensitivity (in mV/g or pC/g) at various frequencies of interest. The ISA approved back-to-back comparison method is probably the most convenient and least expensive technique.

At Vibration Research, the back-to-back calibration involves coupling the test accelerometer directly to a (NIST) traceable double-ended calibration standard accelerometer and driving the coupled pair with a vibration exciter at various frequencies and acceleration (g) levels. The assumption here is that since the accelerometers are tightly coupled together, both will experience exactly the same motion, thus the calibration of the back-to-back standard accelerometer can be precisely "transferred" to the test accelerometer.
